This years event is sure to be a showstopper with Gospo Collective as the powerhouse act! If you don’t know Charmaine Jones and the Gospo Collective, you are in for a treat! And if you do, then you know how amazing this event is going to be! Malibu Drive will start off the evening in style, before Gospo hit the stage.

This year we are proud to support Breakthrough Mental Health Foundation, Australia’s only dedicated mental health research foundation.

An Evening Under the Stars kicks off the Support Local Business – Only Unley Road Festival – encouraging everyone to support the businesses on Unley Road!  The Festival runs from 12 February – 12 March.

This is a COVID Safe Event and we ask that all patrons adhere to the following;

  • You must Check-In via QR Code and show Marshall’s evidence of this upon entry through the gates (Manual sign in will also be available.)
  • Do not attend if you have any Covid symptoms, have been in an exposure location or if you have been directed to isolate/quarantine
  • Maintain social distance of 1.5m.  Where this is not possible, masks will be required.
  • No dancing.

Food and Light Refreshments will be available, but we also encourage you to stop for dinner at one of the many Unley Road cafes/resturants prior to the concert or to pick up picnic provisions from all of the great businesses on Unley Road.

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS

An Evening Under the Stars is proudly sponsored by Hamilton MG.  A proud family owned South Australian business celebrating more than 30-years. Hamilton MG has two showrooms located in Brighton and Morphett Vale. Whether it’s a first car, a company car or a family car, MG delivers value and style. Ranging from SUV’s, hatchbacks and sedans offering electric and hybrid technology the MG has been designed to simply deliver more.

An Evening Under the Stars could not run without the support of sponsors; Mix 102.3, Channel 9 Adelaide, City of Unley, Gas Works Unley, Metro Shopping Centre, Raine and Horne Unley, Alfred James Unley, Pickle in the Middle and Unley Shopping Centre.   These major partners enable the Unley Road Association to bring this community event to the Soldier’s Memorial Garden FREE to the public.   We also thank Vili’s, AMA Security, Supersound production and AVI film productions.

ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION

Breakthrough support ground breaking research that will help to transform the lives of those affected by mental health issues. Mental illness is going to be the biggest health challenge in our lifetime. One in five Australians has a diagnosed mental health condition, and more people between 15-44 years are dying from suicide than any other cause. This is not acceptable.

Their mission is to create a life free from mental illness.

Freedom to live your life without restriction.
Freedom to chase your dreams.
Freedom to leave your home, build relationships, to fall in love.
Freedom from the economic and social costs and impacts.

The Unley Road Association is proud to support Breakthrough Mental Health Foundation and encourage concert attendees to give a gold coin donation to the Foundation.

ABOUT GOSPO COLLECTIVE

African rhythm meets western harmony and worlds of hymns and hip-hop collide, while Australia’s leading choral ensemble displays the intricacy of the human voice like no other in the Southern Hemisphere. Collaborating with accomplished instrumentalists from around the nation and often a backing choir of sixty plus, this vocal powerhouse is a sonic and visual feast to inspire the mind and heart.

Director, Conductor and Arranger, Charmaine Jones is reputed for her vocal stylings, influenced by her musical journey through life which in turn creates a unique and powerful ‘choral experi

ence’. Charmaine spent over a decade teaching jazz voice at the Adelaide University Elder Conservatorium of Music where she completed her education under the tuition of Connaitre Miller (conductor of renowned Afro Blue, US). Over the years, Charmaine’s desire has grown steadily to musically excite and teach, not only those in such learning institutions but the general public. So in true roots style, she takes it to the ‘streets’ with the help of ‘The Collective’ for all to enjoy.

In 2019, Gospo Collective undertook a two week season of Jackson vs Jackson at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.. This soulfully sharp production saw more than 5,500 people through their Gluttony tent doors, once again winning a Weekly Award for Best Music and gaining a position as one of the 20 highest selling shows of the season.  Catch their show highlights here
